About the Role
The Protection & Control (P&C) Field Testing Engineer performs testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and documentation of critical protection systems on high-voltage substations. This travel-intensive role supports transmission, distribution, and generation projects while ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.
Requirements
Perform testing and commissioning of Protection and Control systems on high-voltage substations
Conduct hands-on protective relay testing using Omicron CMC 256 or 356 or Doble F6150
Test relays including SEL-311L, SEL-387, SEL-487, SEL-421, SEL-351S, GE L90, GE D60, and similar devices
Execute control scheme testing, CT and PT circuit verification, relay calibration, and static and dynamic testing
Support Project Leads and Field Supervisors on active projects
Complete Job Hazard Analysis and adhere to all safety requirements
Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and logic diagrams
Accurately record test data and produce formal field reports
Manage clerical tasks including timecards, expenses, and project documentation
About the Company
Field Experience:
• 5+ years of experience in electrical field testing of substations including breakers, transformers, and transformer systems
Relay Systems Expertise:
• Proficiency with SEL, GE, Basler, and Beckwith relay families
Testing Equipment Skills:
• Skilled in relay testing using Omicron or Doble test sets
Standards and Compliance Knowledge:
• Experience with NETA, IEEE, NFPA, and other applicable industry standards
Voltage Range Exposure:
• Working knowledge of projects ranging from 15 kV to 500 kV
Software Proficiency:
• Ability to use ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, and AcSELerator
