At KI Executive Group, we’re committed to helping businesses thrive by connecting them with highly skilled professionals who can simplify complex challenges. That’s why we’re excited to announce our new partnership with Azarvand Tax Law, a boutique firm led by accomplished tax attorney Tina Azarvand, Esq.

Tina and her team provide strategic legal services in federal and territorial tax law as well as immigration services—including assistance for foreign workers. With a deep understanding of the unique tax and compliance landscape of the CNMI and Guam, Tina is a valuable resource for employers, entrepreneurs, and individuals navigating IRS and local requirements.

Get to Know Tina Azarvand, Esq.

Tina Azarvand, the founder of Azarvand Tax Law, has quickly become one of the most respected names in tax law. She has been recognized on the Super Lawyers: Rising Stars list for three consecutive years (2023–2025)—an honor awarded to fewer than 3% of attorneys in each state. She’s also been named to the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch list for her outstanding work in tax law.

In 2022, her dedication to community service earned her the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service (MVLS) Young Volunteer of the Year Award.

Before launching her firm, Tina served as a Tax Attorney at a tax law firm and as a Tax Manager at an accounting firm, representing businesses and individuals in a wide range of IRS and local tax matters. She founded Azarvand Tax Law with the goal of modernizing the industry—offering transparent pricing, client-focused service, and a holistic legal approach that includes tax and immigration law.

She gained practical experience early through roles with the University of Baltimore Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic, internships at MVLS, and clerkships at tax law firms.

Q&A with Tina Azarvand

What’s it like keeping up with the U.S. time schedule while living in Saipan?“I’m lucky to have a great business partner based in Maryland who helps manage the firm with the time change in mind. We also have another employee in Maryland who handles my calendar and schedules client calls that overlap with both time zones. It’s all about teamwork and communication.”

What made you decide to move to Saipan?“That’s a tough question! If I had to narrow it down, I’d say the sense of community, the proximity to Asia (my favorite continent to travel in), the lower cost of living, and being in a timezone that better serves our international clients. It’s been a great move both personally and professionally.”

What should local businesses know about BGRT and income tax?“The Business Gross Receipts Tax (BGRT) in the CNMI is unique because it is not tied to the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. However, both Guam and the CNMI mirror federal tax laws when it comes to income tax, so any changes at the federal level will also apply locally. That makes it essential for businesses here to stay up to date with national tax reforms.”

Your firm recently added immigration services. Why now?“We recently brought Charlie Lefebvre on board as Of Counsel to lead our immigration law practice. With the recent cooperation agreement between the IRS and USCIS, the connection between tax and immigration matters is stronger than ever. By offering both services under one roof, we help clients maintain compliance across agencies and reduce legal risk—especially when it comes to hiring or sponsoring foreign workers.”
